G.ORWELL "1984"
Book Cover Redesign

The storyline of utopia 1984 is relevant today as it was when Orwell wrote it; everyone knows the famous quote, "Big Brother is always watching you." But for this book cover redesign, my challenge was to create something mind-blowing and terrifying but still beautiful that can bring attention to the message of this book that hasn't been unread yet.

The Problem
How to design a new look for the iconic book without losing its main message?
Ideation
Redesigning the iconic book is not easy. There are hundreds of redesigned book covers of G. Orwell's "1984" that show the same idea over and over again. I wanted to show that a person as an individual in such a totalitarian country does not exist:

Memory is erased; personality is destroyed; there is no freedom of speech; there is only darkness.

My goal was to intrigue and got readers to grab a book from the shelf in the bookstore. This book carries an important message; to deliver it to the readers, I cut and shifted the photo pieces until the design looked scary and creepy, making this person's face unrecognizable. Now he has lost his "I," and the system rules him.

Final Design
The shredder effect is eye-catching and intriguing that grabs a potential reader's attention.
