WAITING FOR GODOT
Performance Ad Campaign

Seattle Rep Theatre was created in 1963 by a group of people whose lives are all about the theater. The advertisement campaign aimed to promote the play "Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett.

This project helps increase attendance by attracting a younger, liberal-arts-oriented population and helping Seattle Repertory Theatre become more well-known in the Millennials' and Gen Z's world by showing fresh, unusual viewing of the play storyline.

Creating an illustration and campaign deliveries in CMYK and black and white colors without losing the contrast was the primary requirement. The idea of the crossed legs with a view of looking down at shoes represents the waiting process. The design stands out in the streets and looks gaily and vivid because of the bright colors that make the illustration playful and contemporary.

The Problem
How to attract and increase theatre attendance among a younger, liberal-arts-oriented population of Millennials and Gen Zs?
Ideation
After watching the play, I asked myself, "What do you do when you wait for someone?" The keyword in this play is waiting, so all my ideas were going around the wait state: walking, shoe prints, staring at shoes.

My final design decision was driven by creating a colorful illustration that can make young adults curious about the play "Waiting for Godot."
